King Krule: Alone, Omen 3
How is composition used to tell the story? Why is the screen sub-divided up into multiple stories/sections of video?
The composition is used to tell the story by showing where the video is for example when it shows the city which shows rule of thirds. The screen is subdivided to show short story's of different people each of them in different settings with the only similarity being them holding/using a phone or a phone in a shot. It’s an easer way to show multiple scenes at the same time also it only shows one person in the scene to relate with the music which is about being alone.
How is the environment (beach surface, distant landscape) used to set the atmosphere? What types of shot are used? Explain the choice of shot types.
The environment is used to show atmosphere for example when he is on the beach it shows that the landscape is abandoned which relates to the person being alone. They use a lot of shots looking down onto the person maybe to empathise how alone he is.
Explain how and why conventions such as leading line and rule of thirds are used.
Leading line is used in one on the scenes when he is standing with a pathway leading its way out of shot. Rule of thirds is used when showing the landscape of where the video is set.
How has editing been used at 2 min 20 sec to emphasise the song lyrics?
The editing has been used to empathise the song lyrics for example the filters/colours of the video makes the scenery seem very dull and negative. This connects to the song lyrics as being alone is dull and boring.
Why do you think the final scene uses jump cuts?
I think that the final scene jump cuts to show that he is no longer alone and that he has a family and that he is happy.

What are the distinctive visual qualities that stand out in this video? How does it relate to the project theme of surfaces?
It uses a lot of filters on top of the video for example in one of the scene the picture fades out as the blue fades in. this relates to surface as a filter is added. It also uses the theme of surfaces in the scene where it shows a beach which has many different textures.
How may it inform your developing ideas?
It may inform my ideas by the use of filters used throughout the video to make it seems a more gloomy atmosphere. I also like the settings which uses texture/surface for example when he is standing on the beach.
What processes have been used in making it,
and how?
They have used a lot of different editing techniques
and transitions to make the video a lot more
interesting and effective. The added filters also
make the texture stand out a lot more.
Who is it aimed at? How does it target this
audience?
I think its aimed at older teens to young adults.
Because it relates to the society of people being
on there phones instead of talking/meeting people
face to face.
The data show that you are a lot more likely to succeed when you are a lot younger (below 50). This means that if you want to go into the media industry it would be easier to go at a younger age at this stage. I think this might be the reason because they maybe could be more modern and they have more time to train them. Its important to understand the issues of diversity in the media industry because it shows what has improved and what needs to be improved in the age gender gap.
The data shows that the media industry is more equal on gender equality. The reasons for these trends is that media industry is improving on equality. Its important to understand the issues of diversity in the media industry because it shows what has improved and what needs to be improved in the gender with senior management.

These are some of the job roles I am thinking about doing for my future career although I am not completely set on any of them and I am open to doing other careers.
Marketing manager
One of the roles I am interested in is being a marketing manager. This job role is where you manage and supervise the marketing for a business or product. They can focus on just one or multiple media products throughout the job. On the website it said that they need to be outgoing spontaneous but also highly focused and organised for example making sure that they say on budget for a product and making sure they keep to the timeline and when the project needs to be completed. It says you normally need a bachelors degree which is normally in business management and administration andother common degrees like include Marketing and communication.
Create Director
One of the jobs that I am interested in is Creative Director. This job includes doing advertising and marketing campaigns. You work with graphic designers, copywriters and the marketing team to create a successful media campaigns. They advise that you need a bachelors degree which you can get from university. You then need to gain 5-7years of experience in an advertising agency. You then need to obtain a Graduate Degree and then get advice from people who do that job role. You need to be familiarity with graphic design and publication design software and have the degree field in Graphic design, marketing, or a related field. Although I am not completely sure if this is the type of job I want to do especially at the start as its quite high up its something I could aim for. I like how it uses advertisement and design which relates to my FMP as I’m learning software which is used for deign work.
Graphic Designer
Another job I am interested in is a graphics designer in the media industry. A graphics designer creates/designs visual concepts either by using the computer of by hand. The types of visual concepts could include words, images or graphics. They communicate a particular idea through the use of advertising by images, fonts, shapes, billboard photography and more. It is advised that it normally requires a bachelor degree in Graphics Design (the main one) fine arts and advertising. I like how thisjob is focused on adverting and you can either do it on a computer or by hand. I also like how creative this job is.

Research into different types of Research
Here I have gone into depth about different research methods how they help and what the positives and negative are for each of them.

Primary research is when when you gather the research yourself for example questionair carried out by yourself, focus groups and your own knowledge.

Secondary research is when you get research that you didn't gather for example looking at online articles, books and videos online.

Annie Leibovitz
Annie Leibovitz is an American photographer know for her dramatic celebrity portraits. She was born in 1949 in America. She like the images to be realistic in story telling and for the model to show the story in the image. She like the ideas to emulate from that person as the story looks real. She advises to start off with one lens and see where it takes you. In post production she tries to emulate natural light in her images. She has taken images of many famous faces which include the queen. I had chosen her photography to study as I like the use of lighting and black and white filters in her work. I like how it intensifies the image and makes different types of textures intense and makes the image contrast between different textures. I also like how the model shows their story through the image and how in looks natural. I like how the image was taken in the moment. The black and white filter gives a sophisticated look and gives it a monotone and powerful atmosphere. I think that this photography is aimed at an audience of young adults/adults as there quite serious images.
Steve McCurry
Steve McCurry is an American photographer born on the 23rd of April 1950 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He has appeared on the National Geographic Magazine several times. He says how he finds a setting he likes and the composition and then takes many images until he finds the one he likes. He also believes that it should be in the moment. I have chosen to study him because I like how in the images the model has eye contact with the camera. I also like the filter used in the image which make it look more dramatic and it intensifies the colours and the textures which helps relate to the theme of surfaces. I like how each of the images tells a story of that person. I also like the textures in the image and how the filter intensifies it. I think that its aimed at a large audience as its used in national geographic magazines. Each person can imagine what the image means and the story behind it.
