EVALUATION
How I have used software to develop my work
I need to add transitions to each of my videos to make it go a bit more smoothly. I also need to add music to my video and maybe add more effects to make the video more interesting. I have now done this by adding some transitions which made the video run a lot smoothly and adding music.
Tools and processes used
I have used premiere pro to edit the videos and used tools including noise, reverse, Chanel blur and transitions. I have also used transitions in sections of my video to make it play a bit more smoothly. I have also added text to my videos.
How stage one has helped me
The stage one projects has helped more towards my intended future career as I have been learning a lot more skills in the adobe software especially in Photoshop as right now I am particularly interested in print media. Also I have learnt different job rolls, websites and courses in media which will be important in the future.
Audience research
I conducted the audience research by creating a questionnaire asking questions about what you would have preferred in a look book. This has helped me understand what my target market was interested in and what they preferred in a look book. It also helped me with what type of style my look book will be and how I would approach it.
Audience’s preference in advertising
I think that I was slightly effective in understanding the audience’s preference in relation to fashion advertising as they used quite modern styled clothing which I used. I also made the look book go slow and fast which the audience said they preferred in a look book.
Research into existing Look Books
When looking at other look books online I found that they had a certain style of filming which went with the music which I quite liked. I also liked how they had the names of the clothing in the video.
Developed look book feedback
I got peer feedback about my developing look book which was to make the video a little sharper and less blurry which I did by taking away the noise which makes it look less grainy.
Research to learn software skills
I used research such as You Tube tutorials to learn technical software skills as I didn’t really know much about adobe.
Developing my use of research
The project helped me develop my use of research by learning many different ways that I can research and how to show and present them.
Research for new skills
Other forms of research that I could do to help develop further skills it keep watching tutorials and websites of skills on the adobe software as I want to improve on my skills as I still don’t know much about the software.
Look Book Final Evaluation
Aim
The aim of the look book is to create a video showing models advertising clothing which appeals to a target audience of 16-18 year olds.
What I wanted to learn
The range of skills I was trying to develop for stage one would be to learn and improve skills on the adobe software like Photoshop and Premiere Pro. For example learning the basics on how to add effects. I also wanted to learn more about how to use a photography camera and a video camera. I also wanted to improve on my photography skills and filming skills and to learn how to make and use the Wix website.
Planning time
I was less effective on planning time compared to the first project (magazine) as I found it harder to edit the videos as I had never used the software before (Premiere Pro).
Visual planning
The visual planning I used for my look book was a storyboard this helped visualise my look book. I did both a sketch on a storyboard template and a story board with actual images of the setting where the look book was going to be filmed. This helped give a realistic visualisation of what the look book might have looked like and made it a lot clear showing the actual setting/environment.
Comparing my look book to others online
When I researched look books I found that a lot of the videos had text on the side explaining where clothing is from so I added this to my look book. I also found that the online look books have a lot of good effects and transitions.
Improvements
The aspects that I think could be improved would be the camera work as I don’t like some of the shots as they are quite unsteady so if I had enough time I would had reshoot some of the videos. I also would have wanted to add more effects to the videos to improve the look of the video to make it more interesting to watch.
Peer Feedback
WWW: The nostalgic style of the video was good.
EBI: Would like the video to be a little less blurred as I would like to see the detail of the clothes the models are wearing.
Useful techniques
The techniques that I found most useful to use for my look book was adding the glitch to the video and adding an image over the video which gave it a better effect. I also learnt the basic of how to use premiere pro for example add clips, adding text and adding transitions.
Practical Research
I used a lot of practical research quite effectively. I used a lot of You Tube tutorials to learn new skills for example things like adding adjustment layers to the look book video and making a glitch effect. It also helped with some problems that I faced and ways to stop them and resolve them.
Problems
I had a problem with one of the adjustment layers not working on all the videos so to sort the problem I watched the videos again to find if I made a mistake and remade that effect. I kept on trying and it wouldn’t work until a few hour later I remade it again and it worked. I am also having a problem with the mirror not working on a video but I fixed this by changing the angle of the mirror to 360 degrees. I responded to problems that I found by either repeating the step again or researching about it and seeing if there is a resolution. In my case I did both although I didn’t find a resolution online for the adjustment layer but for the mirror. And I repeatedly did the step over and over until it worked.
What Creative software I have used
I have only used premiere pro for this project but the positives of it is there's a lot of different affects you can add to the video and you can change the look of the photo quite easily as well. The negatives is that it is very slow and won’t play my whole video smoothly. And also some of the effects won’t work and I could not figure out why.
